In the midst of Madam Celina’s well intentioned, actively directed, and beautifully executed mind piercing and heartbreaking emotional outburst, which some thinkers described as a strategy she deployed to dump a load, in the soul of a trusted, benevolent and considerate Man, to leverage her desire to be a lover.

Madam Cecilia’s problem with the daughter and the marriage plans started the moment she got wink of who Michael’s father is. The two older Parents (Mr. Barnabas and Madam Celina), had known each other, one may say, dated secretly in the past. Though taken aback that Celina is the Mother to the girl his Son proposed to marry, Mr. Barnabas, did not expect the twist the woman brought into it. To Mr. Barnabas, whatever they had for each was in the past. To him, the issue is not big enough to constitute any impediment, therefore, does not warrant the kind of dust Madam Celina, raised about the issue. This is not to suggest that he was not disturbed by negative vibes the fiancĂ©e relayed to him, in view of her Mother’s body language. He was worried, almost devastated. He could not relate clearly with the sudden change of mind, worsened by the inability or refusal of her heart throb’s Mother to offer any explanation.
Being a close friend of the father, as Selina is to her Mother, Michael decided to appeal to his father to intervene. Without much Ado, Mr. Barnabas, Michael’s father, succumbed to the plea of the Son, to reach out to Selina’s Mother. On the self-appointed date, he set out early to Madam Celina’s, using the address, his Son, Michael gave him.

“My Mother is no longer interested in my marriage to Michael. But, I won’t allow it go just like that”. With this conclusion, Salome made up her mind to face her mother squarely, saying “Whatever is responsible for the sudden change in my Mother towards my marriage is worth investigating, especially, when my mother could not discuss it with me”.
