EMBRACE “CULTURE GOES TO SCHOOL (CGS)”: THE PROJECT FOR RAISING THE SOUND AT HEART, CULTURE LOVING TEENS, YOUTHS AND KIDS (TYK) IN NIGERIA

“Culture Goes to School (CGS)” is name of the Project. It is a school based culture driven, value re-orientation and capacity building intervention Project. It is designed to deepen the knowledge, understanding and skill of Teens, Youths and Kids (TYK) in Nigeria about what culture really is: the value and benefits to them and the society.

Two child friendly outfits, Scoreline and Ngasrit Global Concepts and Entertainment Plus (NGCE Plus) known for their unflinching support for real empowerment and development of the TYKs designed the Project. Their empowerment approach for the TYKs goes beyond provision of livelihood skills to embrace life support skills.

Recently, “Culture Goes to School” found her way into the fastest growing School in Jos city, St Luke’s Cathedral Anglican Primary School, reputed for excellence in child development: grooming, nurturing and teaching. The official entry of CGS into the School was conducted in a grand style. The event in every ramification revealed that the school is standing clearly as a colossus, adorning the cap of a star achiever.

Stepping out gradually, graciously and systematically as it did to metamorphose into a brand to beat; the school took the city of Jos by storm to showcase the official entry of “Culture Goes to School” into the public domain through the school. In view of this development the school succeeded in indicating a clear direction and standard in the rescue effort to pull Nigeria out of the dungeon of socio-economic woes that dumping her all-embracing, envied and sort after, culture and cultural values forced her into.

The official entry of “Culture Goes to School” into the St Luke’s Cathedral Anglican Primary School made the 2024 Cultural Day of the school memorable and colourful. It made it a highly rated event by the observers, parents, guardians and numerous others. The event commenced with a carnival train or parade and attracted attention of many people that fancied the show. The parade which was mounted by the pupils, staff, teachers and parents of the school and others took the enthusiastic, amiable and highly elated people some distance away from the school premises. This show, undoubtedly, announced publicly, the now trending culture driven, capacity building and value re-orientation initiative, proudly and boldly incubated in Jos city by the school.

“Culture Goes to School” is a new project. It promises to make resounding entries into the schools in Plateau state and beyond. The benefits to the Schools, the TYKs and the Society are huge. A major challenge to the Project is resources…
