NIGERIA'S NEW NATIONAL ANTHEM: WHAT YOU MUST KNOW AND DO

It is common knowledge that Nigeria now have a new national Anthem. Most people, even before the new National Anthem are aware of the fact that the National Anthem of a country is a National Symbol.

It is equally common knowledge that National Symbols are respected and honoured. National Symbols are honoured in ways and manner prescribed and approved by the government or authority in power. In view of this, the attention of the reader, Nigerians especially,  is drawn to the issues below.

The complete, three (3) stanzas of the new National Anthem in Nigeria is sang only on the National Day, October 1st.

In view of the above, singing the three  (3) stanzas of the National Anthem  during morning Assembly or any such events by the School Children is totally unacceptable.

Again, singing the complete, three (3) stanzas of the National Anthem during events: seminars and public dialogues, unveiling of programmes of any kind: public or private is also unacceptable.

Adopt the third stanza of the National Anthem as Prayer and avoid a common practice where members of different religious bodies are invited to pray one after the other during public events or gatherings.

This orientation is on-going and it is by the order of the President.
