PHOTOGRAPHY MASTER CLASS: ST PIRANS ANGLICAN CHURCH MEDIA UNIT ORGANISED A THREE DAYS MASTERCLASS TO HONE, EMPOWER AND RAISE KINGDOM MINDED PHOTOGRAPHERS

The rule of third

Ardent Kingdom minded, empowerment and impact driven Photography Masters beyond the shores of Nigeria: Germany, United Kingdom and the United States of America partly, and their Nigerian counterparts, assembled by the Media Unit of St Pirans Anglican Church on the Plateau, for a three days Photography Master Class in Jos, Plateau State, North Central Nigeria to redefine the art of Photography and build the capacity of the Kingdom-minded people interested in the Profession in Plateau state and Nigeria, as a whole.

An overview of the three days kingdom oriented, development focused, skill driven and empowerment based workshop which started on Monday, the 9th of September and ended on Wednesday, 11th, 2024, in the serene city of Jos, reveals that the workshop exposed the participants to understanding better the real meaning of photography, especially by the kingdom minded. Drawing from the three day event, Photography is by extension a calling that involves throwing or casting light on objects to capture and through camera processes cast away (overcome or overpower) darkness with light to create a replica (image) that reflect or represent the actual objects captured through the lens of a camera.

The above action, learning from the workshop is not complete if the image created from the captured objects does not tell stories of the events, ceremonies or activities, numerous other actions, encounters and conditions of life that necessitated creation of the images. Some benefits and extended impacts of the created images include the opportunity to keep, retrieve and see, remember and admire the story associated with images created long after both the immediate and short term benefits of the events that led to the created images (memories) have diminished if not forgotten.

True believers of the Christian Faith understand the scriptural principles and as a matter of fact the reality in the assertion of light over darkness and that of ‘Let there be light and there was light’ contained in the Holy Book, the Bible.

In view of the above, it is worth underscoring the fact that the three days action packed Photography Workshop, a unique, purpose driven and impact loaded, well-coordinated and heavily enriched content, superbly delivered by highly equipped kingdom minded resource persons, enthusiastic, committed and very humble practitioners; desirous of raising and building confident, disciplined and God fearing, skillful, better informed, properly oriented and effectively positioned world class photographers comprising male and female, young and old, new and existing actors in photography, willing and hungry to deploy the skill of photography as a veritable tool for the real work of kingdom expansion, impact and reach.

Speaking during the opening Ceremony of the workshop, the Vicar, St Pirans Anglican Church on the Plateau, Venerable Chimeziem Kingsley Anukam, a photography enthusiast informed participants of the three days’ workshop that the Lord Almighty is the first Photographer, fact being that He made Man in His own image. The vicar in view of this enjoined the participants to bear in mind always that photography is a calling and therefore a serious work of the ministry of the kingdom.

The resource persons that covered the three days photography master class are: Ibrahim Dung, Maxe Thomas from Germany and Fred Williams, a Nigerian, based in the United Kingdom, and Fred Kyaharshik, Haye Okoh and Canon Moses, Nigerians, based in Jos.

Scoreline promises to monitor the participants of the workshop, to identify the outcomes and also evaluate the impact and report to the esteemed readers of the Platform.
