People encounter different challenges and face various forms of obstacles. Some are palatable, some are not. Approaches to handling the challenges differ. Some respond and some react to the challenges. Those that respond to life challenges approach the issues positively, and those that react are said to approach theirs in negative ways.
People fall into three major categories, represented in a cluster as those that:
- Make things happen,
- Watch things happen, and those that
- Are left to ask what did happen.
What category are you? Why are you in it? When did it occur? Where did it occur? Who led you to it? How are you fairing in it? Think, think, and think…
Those that make things to happen respond to issues or challenges, and ensure their challenges never get control of them. They run their challenges their challenges do not run them, because they pay close attention and deploy effectively the tools of decision making and problem solving. Since they are not control freaks, they pay attention to details, and ultimately take their time to understand situations before their response, as well as take time to develop their own performance indicators and monitoring tools, and deploy them carefully to resolve challenges they face.
As part of their strength those that make things to happen strive to know and also understand clearly at every point the real challenge they face and are resolving. They are certain about their achievement in any issue and are clear always about what is left unresolved and ahead of them. Typical of them, they know and understand the when, what and why, who, where and how? And equally use them appropriately.
People that make things happen are confident, courageous and happy people. They are hardly under pressure, most likely because they differentiate easily important, relevant, necessary and urgent. They know that poor or lack of understanding of this major pattern may distract and put them under intense pressure, which can lead to conflicts of wider dimension, magnitude and consequences. They underscore the fact that whenever or wherever cooperation is poor or lacking, opportunistic behaviours occur at will and may even become the norm. They are distinctive because they see ahead and take action before things become obvious.
For those that watch things happen, though they take action fast, they lack details in terms of knowledge and understanding of what they get into. They are in most part opportunists, spurred by greed and inordinate ambitions. Lack of knowledge or poor understanding, detailing of things before action is their greatest undoing. Most of the time they are impatient to observe that there is a difference between amber, the yellow light; and verde or emerald, the Green light, before they jump into action.
Like the early morning flowers, those described in this piece as watchers of things are early birds, they start shining noticeably early in the day and sometimes celebrated heavily in ways that seem to suggest they have no equal, but dwindle or fizzle out suddenly, when the consequences of their inordinate ambitions decide to catch up with them. They are never in control of challenges. As a matter of fact the challenges they bring upon themselves swallow or destroy them in most cases.
For clearer understanding of this aspect of the discourse, a better understanding of amber, verde or emerald, discussed here in terms of their role in colour coding and signalling is necessary. Yellow also known as amber represents, caution, or warning, while Green, symbolizes go, safe or proceed. Those that watch things care less about the nitty-gritty involved, hence their lack of respect for the signs and obvious inability to respond but reacts to challenges. They don’t take proper steps to understand the workings of things before they take action. Caution, carefulness and warning etc are alien to them; consequently they are usually under pressure and are controlled or ruled by the challenges that confront them.
The last category is those that are left to wonder or ask of what did happen. They delay unnecessarily before they take action, hardly make a mistake, and are scarcely on top of any situation, their challenges inclusive. The only time they take serious action is when things have gone out of control. The only thing they can be accused of in most cases is not taking action or not taking it early enough.
In terms of business and socio-economic engagements and active development works and activities, which are the things that Scoreline stands for and promote for massive job creation purposes, it is vital to note that the first category of people that is discussed in this piece are the entrepreneurs.
Very important to note is their knack to engage in genuine economic activities by taking advantage of opportunities early, before they become obvious. Their eyes are constantly fixed on what is important and equally of impact to the community. They see the wood for the tree, know and understand the tree to focus on diligently. In addition to these know what actions are expected, and the definite result, what is in it for them and their clients and customer. They strive and go beyond satisfying their customers and clients to delighting them. Customer Retention is important to them, so they know that finding new ones or replacing loss ones is difficult and expensive.
For the second category, they are mostly the shrewd people that masquerading as real businessmen and women, whose sole interest and concern are making money. It makes no meaning to them that the product or service they render never serves the interest or meet the need of the customers. All they are after is money.
The third category of people is by far not like any of the first two categories already discussed. They will not take action early and will never act in ways considered or seen as inimical to others. Rather than do any of the two they settle for less of it, no matter how menial and strive to readjust their lifestyle instead.
