NDI EZERE WARD JOYFUL FOR THE RENEWED MANDATE OF THE CHAIRMAN/MAYOR AND HIS DEPUTY AT THE ISUIKWUATO LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL

Recently, the appointments of AVM Chinkwendu Onyike Rtd; and his deputy Hon. Okezie Goodluck as the local government area transition council Chairman/Mayor and deputy respectively, of Isuikwuato Local Government Council were renewed by the Executive Governor of Abia state, Dr. Alex Otti.

The information was contained in a Public Service Announcement signed by Prince Uzor Nwachukwu, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abia State.

The Commissioner through the announcement noted that the appointment of the affected, terminated on the 31st of May, 2024 (hence the renewal). He also noted that renewal of their appointments was in consonance with the provisions of the law.

Soon after the news of the renewal of the appointments spread and filtered into the ears of Ndi-Isuikwuato, Scoreline spoke with the Councilor representing the good people of Ezere Ward, who doubles as the Deputy Speaker, Isuikwuato Legislative House, Hon. Nkem Duncan Oji.

According to the Councilor and Deputy Speaker, Hon. Nkem Duncan Oji, the Mayor, AVM Chinkwendu Onyike Rtd, (whom he addresses more as “Nwanneukwu, Our Leader” during the discussion with Scoreline), deserve the honour accorded him and his Deputy by the supportive, hardworking and exemplary leader, an icon and father figure, our Governor, Dr. Alex C. Otti, by renewing their appointments as Mayor and Deputy respectively.

Continuing he noted “Our Mayor is the Man the Almighty Lord has through our Governor chosen for the rebuilding of Isuikwuato LGA, for the laying of a solid and sustainable foundation for real socio-economic activities, enduring and diversified approach to the development of our LGA.

Speaking about the feeling of the people of Ezere to the news about the renewed mandate of the Mayor and his Deputy, Hon. Nkem Duncan Oji says the people of Ezere Ward and Isuikwuato generally have very strong reasons to heave huge sigh of relief for the renewal of the appointment of the broadminded, self-respecting and highly disciplined personality, an accomplished, excellently prepared and heavenly equipped Nigerian that the Almighty has ordained as the Mayor of Isuikwuato LGA.

“His works within the short time that he saddled the throne of office as the Mayor of Isuikwuato LGA speak volume of his personality, intention for the LGA and capacity to build Isuikwuato. The excellent grading works on-going and completed in the LGA are glaring indications of what is in the offing for the LGA in his second coming.

Like their Councilor, most of the Members of Ezere Ward were full of praises to the Almighty God for the renewed appointment of the Councilor, Mayor and his Deputy, and on the strength of this called on Ndi-Ezere, Ndi-Isuikwuato and other citizens and residents in Isuikwuato to cooperate with the Governor, Mayor and their Councilor throughout the tenure of their office by giving them maximum support.

“We celebrate his track records within the little time he has been in the office as the Chairman/Mayor, Isuikwuato LGA. We appreciate his unwavering commitment and dedication, regard and service to us, the small and larger constituents: the people of Ezere Ward, Ndi-Isuikwuato, Ndi-Abia” and Nigerians as a whole.

For the people of Ezere Ward, their joy had no bounds, as many of them thank the almighty for bringing the Mayor back to the office. According to those that Scoreline spoke to, the Almighty brought him back to continue his good works to the good people of Ezere Ward and the entire family of Isuikwuato LGA.

Speaking to Scoreline, the Chairman Umudinja Community Development Union, Mr. Anyalechi Douglas Uchechi, clearly demonstrated his joy over the renewal of the Mayor’s appointment, when he said:

"My community has been neglected seriously over the years by the previous governments. The Ugwuikpo-Ide Umudinja road that the Mayor is grading for my community presently is a thing of joy and happiness.

Mr. Anyalechi Douglas Uchechi told Scorleine that:

“The whole community is agog with the news of the renewal of the appointment of the Mayor, his Deputy  and our Councilor.

"We appreciate their return to office, not only for the work in our community but for all that they are doing in the entire LGA.

"The road grading work in my community is on-going. It has not been completed. It started about three weeks ago or thereabout. It stopped for some time due to a little hindrance, but the community has addressed the issue”.

He (Mr. Anyalechi Douglas Uchechi), used the opportunity provided by Scoreline to draw the attention of the Council Leader on the need for a bridge along the Ide to facilitate movement between his community and other communities, especially the Amauzu community. That is the only way the road will enhance movement of this nature, he emphasied.

He therefore, called on the Mayor and the Abia state governor to come to the aid of his community by considering his appeal and ensuring that the needs of the community for free flow of movement, especially along the Ide area is achieved to facilitate access and transactions between his community and other communities.

Mr. Okechukwu, from Ozara, the current Home Branch Secretary and one of the Executive members in Ozara spoke about the road grading project of the Mayor in his community. He says:

“Yes there is a Road Project from Umuakwua Bridge to Ozara that the Mayor himself asked the Councilor to check as the Project they will do for us and the grading has started. That portion of the road is very bad.

"I thank the Mayor and the Governor for at least remembering us, the people of my community.

"I am appealing to the Governor and the Mayor through our Councilor to still assist the community further by putting drainage on the two sides of the road.

“Our community members are happy with the road project and return of the Mayor. We appreciate the works he is doing in the entire Local Government Area, including the grading of our road.

“As a matter of fact that road has been neglected for many years. It was forgotten by previous governments for more than 24 years.

“But when the Mayor came into office and we brought the issue to him through our Councilor, Hon. Oji, he attended to us fast.

“Thank God we have been remembered.

“I am still appealing to the Mayor to consider putting drainages on the two sides of the road. It will add to the durability of the road and help my community as well".
