The Mayor, Isuikwuato Local Government Area (LGA), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Chinwendu Onyike, Rtd, has been commended by the Councillor representing the good people of Ezere Ward 2 and Deputy Speaker, Isuikwuato Council Assembly, Hon. Nkem Duncan Oji, for giving the good people of Ezere Ward 2 a sense of belonging through his development efforts in the area. Hon Duncan also applauded the Mayor for his unwavering commitment and dedication to the development of the LGA.
Speaking to Scoreline on his view about the Mayor’s administration style in the LGA, and in particular how the Mayor has impacted his constituency, Ezere Ward 2, Hon. Duncan Oji, the Councilor, representing the Ward, in his response, described Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Chinwendu Onyike, Rtd, as the best thing that has happened to Isuikwuato LGA, in terms of democratic governance since the LGA was created. He went further to add,
“For the long neglected good people of Ezere Ward 2, the administration of Mayor, Nwaneukwu, Chinwendu Onyike, is impacting them positively. They are benefiting and having the feeling that there is a government in place. They hear and are seeing the dividends of democracy. Thus, the good people of Ezere Ward 2 are now having a sense of belonging. They are very grateful and appreciative of all that the Mayor is doing for them”.

Responding to the question about the Mayor’s administrative style in office, the obviously elated Hon. Oji noted that the Mayor is a role model, visionary leader and planner, indeed a strategist. He is profoundly a peace maker and a peace advocate, a democrat and exemplary practitioner of not just representative democracy, but also very skilful at participatory and inclusive democratic governance system.
According to Hon. Oji, there are lots of things to learn from his administrative style and acumen by both the civil populace and his fellow retired military officers. His knack for wide consultation and extensive engagement, in and outside the office has enabled him to carry people along. The depth at which he adopts and deploys the core but often neglected administrative functions of supervision and delegation puts him ahead of others. He considers, appreciates and values the contribution of others and sees nothing as little. These are among the easily identifiable qualities that stand him out, and are responsible for his unstoppable spirit, comfortable disposition and untiring nature.
The above personal attributes have combined with the supportive efforts of the very hardworking, intelligent and committed administrative team and many unwavering staff of the LGA working assiduously with our Nwanneukwu, Mayor Isuikwuato LGA, to post the results that are contributing significantly and remarkably towards the increasing developmental strides being witnessed in Isuikwuato LGA within the short period in office.
On something tangible the good people of Ezere Ward 2 can point at as the benefit to them from the Mayor’s administration, Hon. Duncan was quick to site infrastructure development, road construction in particular as a major example, saying the Mayor has constructed roads in the Ward. He qualified the roads as timely, enduring and transformational products that only a selfless, progressive and impact driven leader, like Nwanneukwu, Chinwendu Onyike, can offer the good people of Ezere Ward 2. He cited Ezere/Ozara, Umuakwua and the Ozara/Acha Roads among them. He is happy and optimistic that the people of Ezere Ward 2, have benefited from what he referred to as both direct and indirect benefits from the Mayor’s administration.

My people have benefited directly in terms of the road projects that the Mayor embarked on in the Ward. Indirectly, my people are benefiting from other projects that the Mayor is carrying out in the LGA. Not long ago he supported the Isuikwuato General Hospital that was gutted by fire with fire fighting equipment, and provided other support services to enable the hospital bounce back and continue with her services to the people. The people of Ezere Ward 2 and their relations in other parts of the LGA are beneficiaries of the hospital services.
Remarkable efforts by the Mayor in the education sector of the LGA have resulted to visible improvements, as was glaring during the recently held school sports where the LGA competed strongly and came out tops among the best 3 LGA’s in the state. Most recently the Mayor presented children of the LGA with a psycho-social support activity, when Isuikwuato LGA, against what has since become the norm, celebrated with her children massively. The LGA did the unexpected, honoured and massively appreciated Umu-Isuikwuato openly, officially and ceremoniously on their Day, May 27th tagged annually as the children’s Day in Nigeria.
Concluding, Hon. Nkem Duncan Oji noted “due to the noticeable commitment of the Mayor, Isuikwuato LGA is visibly pulling out of the dungeon of socio-economic obscurity, backwardness and dearth of infrastructure that resulted from misrule and poor governance of many years”.
