Information reaching us reveals that the names of Umu Otampa are among those contained in the “Renew Hope Conditional Cash Transfer” list released recently.
Our source which noted that the list was extracted from the World Bank Generated National Register urged Umu Otampa to check the list, and ensure that those whose names appeared in the list are contacted immediately.
Some members of the community spoken to by our medium on phone with regard to this development enjoined Umu Otampa to check the list and ensure that all those whose name appeared in the list are contacted. One of the community members specifically drew the attention of clan heads to the list, and called on them to step up action by following up and contacting those that name are in the list primarily to confirm that they are aware or notified of this latest development. Two community leaders when contacted on phone by our correspondent advised Umu Otampa: male and female, young and old to go and check the list. A woman among them called on all young men in the community to move out and crosscheck the list and to take up the extra responsibility of using every available means to reach out and intimate those whose name appeared in the list, their family members and close contacts. Another member of the community requested those in the list to be on the lookout, while getting prepared for the yet to be announced data capturing date.
Recall that the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu sometime in October 17, 2023 launched the Renewed Hope conditional cash transfer for 15 million households, which according to the Humanitarian Affairs Minister represent 65% of Nigerians. According to the Minister, the 15 Million Nigerians will receive N25,000 each for three Months, giving a total sum of N75,000.
The Programme as the President explained is an immediate intervention to cushion the effect of the removal of petrol subsidy and other economic shocks on Nigerians was launched on a day that coincided with the World Poverty Eradication Day.
