NATIONAL ELECTIONS 2023: OTAMPA DEVELOPMENT UNION (ODU) GEARS UP TO ELECT NEW OFFICERS

Elections provide the opportunity for nations, states and local government areas, communities and group that belief, respect and practice the democratic system of governance to elect those that will pilot their affairs with a stipulated period.

For the Otampa Development Union December 2023 provides the opportunity for the fast rising and peace loving community to go to the pool and choose her National Officers as the tenure of office of the present leadership expires.

In view of the above a circular drawing the attention of the community members interested in vying for positions to serve the community in any of the offices up for election to start warming for the coming context. The statement reads:

“This is to formally inform Ndi Otampa, Home and Abroad that all elective positions of ODU National are hereby declared Vacant as the outgoing EXCO members shall vacate their seats come December, 2023 after completing their Caretaker Tenure, and Elections conducted same month, during the General meeting”.

Continuing, the statement noted “We have the mandate of the Outgoing PG and the ODU National to call for interested Ndi Otampa, Home and Abroad, to indicate their intentions by Simple expression of interest to Contest for any of the positions during the elections.

The Expression of Interest according to the statement should be discussed at the branch level, endorsed and routed by Member Branches on their letter headed papers and published on the platform for record purposes.

The statement also noted that a month to the election is considered the time frame for the submission of Expression of Interest by any candidate interested to contest in the election. This, according to the circular is to ease the work of the Electoral Body.

The circular requested Member Branches to scrutinize their members wishing to contest in the election in line with the existing rules and laid down procedures of the ODU before forwarding the name(s) of the interested member(s) to the ODU National for further actions.
