The name Dorcas Bentu surely rings bell in Plateau State, interestingly for good reasons. As a Gospel artist she is outstanding, a delight to watch and listen to by Gospel admirers. With her Soul lifting Gospel contents always, the real child of God feels transported to another realm of life listening to her. Similarly, the sinner is deeply touched and the urge for a new, better and more worthy life in Christ is completely aroused and the decision to embrace Christ the ones personal Lord and Saviour seriously heightened. Her beautiful voice, intelligence and sense of purpose and commitment set her apart and reflect significantly in her Gospel lyrics and style of ministration.
Dorcas Bentu is a member of the Business Enabling Environment Committee in Plateau state. The committee is a private sector driven community oriented and self-inspired team, made up of committed professionals and experts from different areas of endevour that have volunteered to offer their services free for the benefit of the public. The works of the committee are directed by her objectives, the indication of which is clear in its name: Business Enabling Environment Committee (BBEC).
BEEC through her operations engages stakeholders of the business community, both public and private, through series of advocacies, the purpose of which is to install a workable structure in the system that will ensure collaboratively driven approaches, procedures and processes geared at removing identified bottlenecks and encumbrances in both the public and private sectors that are inimical to business growth, and bringing the two parties to work together in the interest of achieving uninhibited business operations that benefit both the public and private sectors in Plateau state. The expected outcome of the effort is to achieve steady growth and sustainable economic development through strategic and consistent collaborations of the public and private sectors.
The preamble above explains the
joyful and inspiring mood that most people were after the news was broken to
them that Dorcas Bentu chaired recently a partnership meeting that involved the
National Museums and Monuments, National Gallery of Arts, the Department of
Fine and Applied Arts, University of Jos and the Tapshak Entertainment Ltd, a
private sector outfit, in an art exhibition that featured works by Dr Agaku of
the University of Maiduguri.
Their joy was informed by the fact that they have insight of Dorcas Bentu’s wealth of experience in the art world and her committed efforts at building synergies, creating new opportunities and raising networking structures that her admirers describe as efforts to expand the business community in Plateau state, and also extend the reach of the products, services and contact of the business operators in the state.
It is interesting to note that Dorcas worked and retired voluntarily from the Plateau State Ministry of Arts and Culture where she rose to an enviable level.
