Visit to stakeholders by the recently constituted National Executive Council (NEC) of National Alumni Association of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu, led by Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu continues with a visit to the Enugu State Command, Nigerian Police Force.
The Enugu State Command, Nigerian Police Force, led by the Police Commissioner, Kanayo Uzuegbu, played host recently to the National Executive Council (NEC) of the National Alumni Association of the Institute of Management and Technology, (IMT) Enugu.
The visit, which held September 15, 2023, in Enugu, the Enugu State Capital was led by the President and Chairman of Council, National Alumni Association, IMT Enugu, Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu, who due to the importance and seriousness attached to the visit flew in from his base in Lagos to lead the IMT Alumni Team to the visit paid the Enugu State Police Commissioner.
After informing the Commissioner of Police Enugu State Command, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu of the forthcoming IMT@50 Celebration, other deliberations by the two parties took place.
When it was time for the Police Commissioner to address his visitors, he warmly welcomed them to his office, and did not hide his feelings in showing appreciation for the visit. He thanked the team for finding time to visit and interface with the Enugu state command, Nigerian Police, and assured of the support of the Nigerian Police, headed by the Ag Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun at all times. He stated specifically that assistance of the Nigerian Police, including the Enugu state command can be consulted at anytime, and warned that it must be for good reasons always.
The visit which is a continuation of the series of visits outlined by the NEC of the IMT Enugu Alumni Association was not just to draw closer or familiarize herself with her community and stakeholders, but equally to engage meaningfully with each stakeholder to identify specifically, the core areas of interest, attention and coverage, as well as capacity and gap, if any, and in view of this development seek collaborations that can work, having understood what is required, in some cases when, where and how?
The need for conducting or generating a skills Map or carrying out a Gap identification exercise is purely to garner insight about what is in existence, what is missing from what is required and to establish clearly the extent of harm that could result from the gap created: inadequacy or total lack of resources - man or materials, or both even, and the particular area.
According to the IMT Enugu Alumni President and Chairman of Council, NEC, Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu, we adopted this measure because it is important for stakeholders operating in a very unique environment like the one we (Alumni and her stakeholders) have found ourselves to know who the stakeholders are, but beyond this to carry out a sort of audit, to conduct a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis, a skills map if you like, to know and understand what each stakeholder harbours, the aggregation of which will provide a clear idea of what is domiciled within the system. This will also enable us to know the real gap that exists and the actual steps to take, first and foremost to cover up and support each other, in the immediate and other steps to take subsequently.
