THE “ART MEET DANCE” EXHIBITION, JOS 2023: Part One (1)

An art exhibition entitled “Art Meet Dance” is currently on-stage in the City of Jos, the Plateau State capital. The painting Exhibition, with Dance as the theme, is a collaboration between the Nigerian Society of Arts (NSAs), Plateau State Chapter and the National Museum, Jos.

8 member Executives of the Nigerian Society of Arts, Plateau State Chapter, who have been featuring in standard exhibitions locally and internationally, are involved in the exhibition. They have been plying their trade in Jos with some of them as master painters in the art profession.

Jos, the capital of Plateau State, North Central Nigeria has been the melting point for artists in art exhibition. According to the Curator, National Museum, Jos, Mr. Omolayo Fadamijo, the coming of the exhibition event, “Art meet Dance” is another contribution from Artists in cataloguing human activities on earth.  He further said the exhibition “illustrates the relationships between culture and environment and the collective cultural expressions of different ethnic groups”. According to Fadamijo, human existence has never been without civilization. In his words, “Dance is a universal phenomenon not peculiar to any ethnic group. This shows as human beings, we have shared past, present and future.

The theme, subject and character of the exhibitors could easily be deducted from the words of the Plateau State Chairman of the National Society of Arts, NSA, Mr Ezekiel Udubrae.  According to him, the involvement of the members in our activities depend on their personal commitment and interest on the profession, especially in hard time like this, referring to the tough economic situation in Nigeria.
