IMT ENUGU ALUMNI ASSOCIATION RECEIVES AWARD OF RECOGNITION

The award presented to the IMT Enugu Alumni Association

The Alumni Association, Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu under the leadership of Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu has continued to wax strong and growing from strength to strength, getting accolades and receiving praises of good conduct, excellent performance and achievements across board.

Latest in the news is the award of a certificate of honour, in recognition of the noble contributions and committed efforts of the Alumni Association on September 6, 2023, for her remarkable and very consistent roles at upholding the honour and integrity of one of the foremost citadels of learning in Nigeria, the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu. The Institute has attained the Golden age of 50 years and will be celebrating this event in a grand style tagged IMT@50 later in the year.

Speaking to our correspondent who fielded questions from him via a telephone conversation to know his feeling regarding the award recognition bestowed on the IMT Enugu Alumni Association, the President, Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu noted that it is not yet time for celebration but time for more works. He said, considering that lots of grounds still need to be covered, I prefer to go low for now to concentrate on the tasks of building the Association in line with the IMT Enugu Alumni Association’s Charter.

You never know until you play this Game. Keep preparing

Continuing, Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu noted that the challenges of the Alumni are not insurmountable, but requires commitment, time, partnerships and collaborations at different levels. All entreaties by our correspondent to make him speak more about the award recognition were resisted by him. The IMT Alumni President instead used the opportunity offered by the telephone conversation with our correspondent to thank members of the IMT Alumni National Executive Council (NEC) for support. He praised them and credited the award recognition and whatever achievements so far recorded. Noting that leadership is a team work, he praised members of the NEC whom he credited the award recognition and whatever achievements people point at, and enjoined them to bear in mind that the prize for hard work and by extension the award recognition is more work.

Mazi Agodi, as the President, IMT Alumni Association was represented at the award recognition and presentation by Chief D. D. Ekeh, a member of the NEC. The award was given to the Alumni body by the Students Union Government (SUG), IMT Enugu, during a Cultural Fiesta organized by the SUG in Enugu, the capital of Enugu state. The event held inside the premises of the Institution, where Dr. Agodi represented by Chief D. D. Ekeh, delivered three key messages to the students, saying:

  • You MUST focus on the major thing that brought you to IMT which is academic excellence because that is what those that sent you to school are expecting in exchange for their investment in you.
  • IMT Alumni Association is committed to your academics and has demonstrated this through the inauguration of her Educational Advancement Committee created to offer scholarships, build capacity, create opportunities and reward excellence.  He assured the students that the IMT Alumni Association will stand with them in all things that bring glory and honour and not pains and disgrace.
  • IMT@50 celebration is around the corner. He assured the students of the commitment of the IMT Alumni Association to carry them along in her programs, and noted that the Alumni has provided a platform to interact with them on a number of issues during the event.

Since his emergence into office as the National President IMT Alumni Association Mazi Agodi Kanu has maintained unflinching support to the Rector, IMT Enugu, Prof. Austin Nweze and his entire management team and pledged to give the students and other stakeholders of the IMT community the best he can, as they saddle the mantle of leadership and drive the affairs of IMT in their tenure. Achievement of this self-imposed mandate appears to be the major pre-occupation of Mazi Agodi, especially now that the IMT@50 celebration is lurking around the corner. So far the urge to break old records, create new ones, and set new grounds seems to be the pre-occupation of Mazi Agodi, especially now that IMT@50 celebration is lurking around the corner.
