INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY (IMT) ENUGU ALUMNI NATIONAL COUNCIL RETREAT HOLDING AT ABAKALIKI, EBONYI STATE

A two days retreat organized for the National leadership of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu Alumni Association enters the second day today. The retreat holding at Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital, in the South Eastern part of Nigeria, kicked off with the President of the IMT Enugu Alumni Association Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu, and the Rector of the 50 years institute, Professor Austin Nwaeze in attendance, and with an extensively researched and superbly delivered lecture by Professor Joe Chukwu of the Alex Ekwueme University Ebonyi state, who doubles as the facilitator and Guest lecturer at the event. He anchored his presentation on the topic "Towards a successful alumni leadership, a case study of IMT Enugu Alumni Association".

Declaring the retreat open,  the IMT Enugu Alumni Association President, Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu, who just clocked two months in office, noted that the retreat is a period of separation from the crowd to enable the National Council of the IMT Enugu Alumni Association to deliberate and come out with resolutions necessary for a very successful tenure of office, a period he qualified/likened to a battle.

"We need to set the ground running to enable us deliver on already established goals of our mandate". Part of the objectives of this retreat seminar is to equip ourselves with those ideas that will prevent of us from sinking", the president said. 

During his presentation, the Facilitator and Guest lecturer of the event, Prof Joe Chukwu informed his audience that the IMT Alumni association is a first tier stakeholder of the Institution (IMT). He went on to remind the participants that an Alumnus is a person who has attended or graduated from an institution, school or college, and equally drew attention of the IMT alumnus on their role as Mentors to their children to attend their alumni. Continuing in his presentation, he emphasized that as critical stakeholders in knowledge sharing, God centered leadership with unity entrenched, should be the watchword. The Recognition of God in your leadership, will make your leadership rancour free. Similarly, he enjoined the National Council members to follow the leader and not challenge him openly, and unnecessarily.
