The chances for a planned, meaningful, people oriented, impact driven, and sustainable development agenda for both human and infrastructure growth and advancement; and in a way the opportunity for diversification by the alumni association of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu, was created, and widened even, when a very creative, visionary and competent leader, impact oriented and goal driven, Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu, inherited the mantle of leadership, as the National President of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu.
Reports from the alumni, revealed that the alumni members of the IMT, were unanimous when they canvassed vigorously for the emergence of a leader that will strongly champion her activities, in the bid to refocus, reshape and reposition the alumni association of IMT for increased impact, enhanced visibility, greater involvement and wider participation of the large population of the IMT graduates, who are found in almost all the 36 states of the federation of Nigeria and constitute the membership of the association.
Guided and spurred by the desire to attain the above, the alumni members filed out on Friday, April 7th, 2023, with only one decision: to elect someone with the qualities and electoral value that meet up with the requirements identified at the opening paragraph of this report. So when the time came for the election of the officers that will pilot the affairs of the IMT Alumni Association in the coming years, the members went for their choice. After the votes were counted and result of the election announced, and a winner declared, Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu, was returned elected, as the next National President and leader and the IMT Alumni Association.
The Report that reached this Platform, noted that the event was well attended. Similarly, the various positions were keenly contested for and won. The report said the victory of Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu was a landslide. Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu, in his appreciation message was reported as saying the following:
"To our elected Council Team members, I congratulate you; and to the others that we contested with, we won for you and hold you in high esteem.
"To All Alumnus and stakeholders, we shall do our utmost.
"I deeply and most respectfully appreciate your prayers and supports. I however, most profoundly place on record the tireless efforts of my Team, led by Mazi Fidelis Okafor and my family.
"The IMT PRO/Alumni Coordinator was awesome at every step of the way.
"Special thanks to Chairman of Council, Dr Mrs Ifeoma Nwobodo and the Rector, Prof Austin Nweze.
He concluded with the prayer: "God bless us all".
The IMT alumni event, witnessed also the foundation laying ceremony of the Alumni Secretariat, which the Immediate Past President (IPP), Chief Dr. George Moghalu, performed.
