The task of raising the right caliber of individuals to build both the economic and socio-political framework of the society, and galvanize support for the growth and sustainable development of the society, though the responsibility of all in the society, as many people have argued, require that the right structures are strategically put in place. It demands that deliberate and focused steps/actions targeted at attracting the commitment of some willing and serious members of the society that will be empowered with the relevant skills and properly guided to play the leading role in building the economy.
Such are always the caliber of people required to drive systematically the processes and procedures that are more often than not introduced towards building an economy. Attainment of this level of result, and or fulfilment of any meaningful endeavour, objectives or goals also require that relevant training or capacity building sessions are conducted by not just anybody considered knowledgeable, skillful and capable, but also committed and focused individuals that will embrace diligently the goal of delivering the right results, and interested in ensuring that machineries are put in place for following up effectively the cycle of activities that include: monitoring and measuring impact to identify among other things the effectiveness of the trainings offered at various levels and stages in the life of projects and programmes that may ensue from time to time... doing this at regular basis within reasonable times is key.
The need to meeting the above requirement consistently becomes even more expedient when the major target as beneficiaries of a capacity building effort, are purely the younger generation, more is expected. By this I mean, when the training participants are largely the younger generation, in particular those of early school age, essentially, those in the Primary and Secondary Schools the expectation is higher.
In view of the above, the Lead of your darling Platform, Mr. Nnabugwu Chizoba was involved, as always in building the capacity of the upcoming generation. Beyond building their capacity, more efforts and time will be devoted for some years in monitoring and evaluating the Project for sustainable impact.
The ongoing capacity building effort, this time around is centered on Peace Building. The focus is on erecting effective structures for Peace Club activities in one of the Secondary Schools in the Jos North Local Government Area of Jos, the Plateau State capital. This structure is key, as it is considered one of the ways of erasing the negative impressions and ugly memories that have been witnessed in the city of Jos, in Jos North and by extension many other Local Government Areas in Plateau state that have been victims of violent attacks, banditry, kidnapping and bombing and other forms of physical and emotional injuries. In the face of this ugly happenings, one of the best moves is to strengthen the capacity of the younger generation on understanding Conflict, Bullying, Violence and Peace. The training will also be used to deepen the knowledge and understanding of the younger generation participating in the exercise on conflict resolution mechanisms, Anger management, Basic communication skills and Gender issues.
Worthy of note also is the fact that the three days event will equally be used to nurture and prepare the students to host and run a Peace Club, properly and successfully in the School. Issues such as overview of a Peace Club and how to conduct Peace Club Meetings, indicators to look out for and others will be effectively covered.
More on this three days event with the younger generation will be coming your way in subsequent publications. The training is continuing today. Keep visiting and reading us. Thank you so so much for allowing us take part of your valuable time. Bye...
