MIGRATING ENTERPRISING PEOPLE TO THE STATUS OF ENTREPRENEURS, LET'S DO IT TOGETHER

Made in Jos by Wisdom multi-business fashion World.

Early in the year 2022, we made a post in this platform informing you dear esteemed reader, our success partner and indeed the reason we are in business on this platform, that our activities in the year 2022, shall focus on developing the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, otherwise known as MSMEs.

We made it clear that we will focus more on building the Micro enterprises. This is the group we have represented in the topic of this piece as Enterprising People. What we did not tell you then, is the fact that our emphasis will be in Nigeria, where we are located.

In view of the above, our illustrations and examples, case studies and experiences, and in some cases, report of field trainings and coaching sessions shall focus largely on Nigeria. However, we may in rare cases via off this self-imposed position to share with our esteemed reader, the experiences of MSMEs from especially other countries of Africa.

Another thing that we did not do in that our New Year post was to explain to you what the Micro businesses are, by at least giving out their basic attributes.

A Micro business in Nigeria is comprised of business entities with less than 10 staff.

In this work and subsequently in this platform we have adopted a nomenclature "Enterprising or Self-employed People" in recognition of what we consider the huge role the Micro business Group play in most of economies in especially Africa, where or focus extends to. This does not mean that Micro businesses are not found in other economies of the Globe.

Your satisfaction is guaranteed

Generally, Micro businesses as presented above are for Policy making purposes or in most part administrative conveniences of relevant public authorities. Such grouping or clustering serves their purpose, may be.

Typically, the Micro businesses are owned by one man or woman, and are run strictly as a "One Man Show", whether owned by a Man or Woman. The negative implications of a One Man show is even worse when the ownership of a business is by a woman, or in situations or events that a husband, boy friend or brother allows her some degree of authority to exercise in the business.

This clarification is necessary because of its importance as a prelude to the nature of work we are embarking on, in this journey of migrating the enterprising members of the business community referred to as the Micro Group or Enterprises to the status of Entrepreneurs.

With the explanation, those who thought it is a move to run the women down can now have a rethink, and the men who saw in it an opportunity to demonstrate that women are not good in business can lower their shoulder, and join in the collective efforts targeted at building the capacity of both the men and women operating or desiring to go into Micro business.

It is only by doing so that all of us can now settle down effectively to pilot the affairs that will drive us graciously towards the position where the attainment of our goal of transforming enterprising people to the point where we can conveniently celebrate that more entrepreneurs have joined in the race to build a deserving entrepreneurship eco-system in Nigeria.

Attainment of the above noble and people centered sustainable development oriented goal will as a matter of fact inspire more of the people not playing by the rules to jump ship quickly and become active  promoters of a collectively set agenda of massive public reorientation, productivity driven and efficiency targeted service delivery MSMEs.

Such massive people oriented movement is required to spur the leadership at various levels to cut down their toga, descend from the mountains and deliberately move away from promoting constantly their over rated, self-professed, but long proven  ineffective, non performing approach to the economic development of the nation.

Their favoured approach has over the years, and in most parts edged out systematically, structurally and technically the MSMEs from benefiting substantially from policies of various governments and at all the tiers.

Most public commentators, development experts and economic analysts, at different fora have constantly accused the military, and in recent times the political leaders of deliberately neglecting and abandoning the MSMEs. They accuse them of paying less deserving attention, and maintain that they have instead shown perfunctory, lukewarm and carefree attitude at some point and at other times behaved glaringly in a manner that reflected self-induced efforts to favour cronies, relations and party members at the expense of MSMEs development and the economy generally.

Easily deductible from the foregoing is the fact that there is clear lack of commitment to sustainable growth and development of the Nigerian economy. This has in no small measure contributed to the elusive nature of the country to build a self-sufficient and economically buoyant nation.

Invite relations, friends and contacts, and all others, be they MSMEs presently or not. There is always something to benefit or to give.  The beautify of human existence is in sharing. There is more strength, advantage and better lessons, including experiences, support and enhanced opportunities, and of course, it is merrier when we work as a community.

Thanks for reading, join us consistently, drop your comments, contributions and if need be feel free to share not just your own personal experiences, but anything of value,  that is in line with the core objectives of the platform or importantly that will drive the efforts leading to attainment of goal of this piece.

Welcome on board. Let's do it together...
