Dr. TSENBA’S DEATH: A TRIGGER OF TEARS AND EMOTIONS.

By Nnabugwu Chizoba
Late Dr. Tsenba Wummen Bako
Recently, death pulled a fast one in Plateau state, when it plucked from Jos city, one of the finest young Accountancy Professionals and human capacity developer, Dr. Tsenba Wummen Bako, who until his death, was a lecturer, with the University of Jos, and a member, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN.

If Tsenba’s death was a rude shock, as Dr. Kayode Fasua, puts it, while reacting to his death, in a post, in one of the social media platforms, the emotions that continue to pour out from the Souls of men and women, young and old, rich and poor, have been very devastating.

Among those that have poured their emotion are fellow Professional Accountants. They include those in academics, churches, the local, state and federal government offices. The Private Sector Practitioners, of both the Accountancy and non-accountancy Professionals, are not left out. Others are friends, and well-wishers. And above all, his special colleagues and Raw materials in the classroom: the students.

From the reactions of people expressed through various media platforms, Old and New Media, over his demise, it is glaring that Tsenba, lived and embarked, on this, so long a journey, a “Together Guy”. Reading the various lines, you could observe, that the person that just stepped out, Tsenba, was a Gee.

Many that know and still remember, will attest to the fact that there are stories to tell. Harbored inside those that know Tsenba, are expressions of very sweet encounters with him. Some of the stories may never be told. Ademola in Lagos, is one of such people. Each time Ademola’s call came across and it has been constant, from the day Tsenba, stepped out, never to return; there is always this mood that speaks volume of untold, but very sweet stories. And I belief there are…
Late Dr. Tsenba Bako
As a Professional colleague, I discussed severally, with Tsenba. Our discussions, besides Accountancy and Professionalism, cover culture, academics, and developments in the polity, especially Tsenba’s very Dear Constituency, Plateau State. Tsenba sleeps and wakes up talking Plateau.

Any wonder that the umbrella body of Plateau state youths, the Plateau Youth Council, while reacting to this unsolicited journey, one without end that Tsenba embarked upon, wrote:

“For the entire Youths of Plateau State, the resurrection and resuscitation of Plateau State Youth Council is Mr. Tsenba Wumen Bako's Memorial.
“Can we forget this day in a hurry? The depth of our sorrows cannot be measured and it's magnitude unquantifiable. We are indeed sunk in it, but this only reflects the depth of our love for a selfless, hardworking, accommodating, ever willing and amiable brother and friend. You lived a life full of legacies and its reflection is seen in us all”.

If Tsenba discussed Plateau with passion, he did same also about PDP, with me, but that was then. Later, APC, became the favored bride, always on his lips. While Plateau, remains his favorite, you can’t take away the fact that APC, received his attention imensely. He discussed APC, with relish. He was an avid follower and committed supporter of the APC. Always very quick to discuss the party.

Away from that, so that I can take a little time to capture few of the emotions that has been expressed.
“Feeling sad”, is the way the Jos Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (JOCCIMA), through her Executive Director, Dr. Idris Joseph Nubuya, captured their own emotion.

Mr. Uzoma, Anyiam Edward, reacting to a friend’s post said “My dear, our Chief Priest is gone. Good people don’t usually last”.

The Plateau Youth Council, wrote:
“You were our eyes, our ears, and the sixth sense. An ever listening fellow, and always proffering solutions to the myriads of issues around us.
“The entire Youths of Plateau State mourn you. Your character of "never say die" was demonstrated during your illness. Always walking around and taking a step in your weakness to make us strong”.

Before signing off, let me just say, Tsenba was a Rolling Guy.

To those of you who know the song, please complete it: …He was a rolling guy, a rolling, a rolling guy…

Until that day, rest…rest…rest and rest! Dr. Tsenba Wummen Bako. May the good Lord console your family and grant all of us, the fortitude to bear your loss.

Please note: All statements credited to Plateau Youth Council are contained in a message by Dr, Fabong Jemchang Yildam, the Chairman, Plateau State Youth Council. The title is “The Song Is Ended. But The Melody Lingers On”.
