UMU-ISUIKWUATO IBEM, NDI-NWANNEUKWU: THAT NAME THEY CALL US IS A WAKEUP CALL. LET US FOCUS ON THE STRENGTH.

By Nnabugwu Chizoba
An axiomatic expression has it that “Two good heads are better than one”. Our Friends, that is the friends of “Isuikwuato”, have a way they pronounce the name of our dear community. Among these friends are those who do it, just to pull our legs, to make fun, to make jest of us. The second category are the ignoramus, and the third, are those who do it to spite us. This last group do it in a very derogatory manner, that some Nwanneukwus at times get annoyed.
I have since embraced their pronunciation of our name, to the point that Ndi Nwanneukwu have resisted and accosted me. I have always found strength, direction, and Wisdom in the name they call us. That name is a wakeup call to Ndi Nwanneukwu, Home and Abroad, especially, the young.

It is a call for all Nwanneukwus to face the truth that we must rise up and pick interest in inclusive governance, community/people oriented policies, transparency and Advocacy driven and issues oriented engagement, of all the elected and appointed representatives and indeed leadership at every level in the land, of our birth: ISUIKWUATO, Abia and Nigeria in general. The idea among numerous others is to foster economic self-reliance, wealth generation and job creation for the productive sub-population, and above all to reposition the land and give it a pride of place that it rightly deserves.

Back to the name issue, let me pause to pick those still struggling to connect with me on the same page in this discourse. Truth is, instead of ISU-IKWU-ATO, they refer to us as “ISI-UKWU-ATO.

Associate the meaning of the adage at the beginning of this discussion (Two good heads are better than one), to the name “ISI-UKWU-ATO” (Three big Heads) you are likely to find a connection between the two, which is:

If “Two good heads are better than one” then “Three good big heads are better than two”.
If you are an ardent believer like me, in the truth, and nothing but the truth, that as the “i” in Abia; Isuikwuato is the “EYE” of God’s own state, Abia, you will connect better with Isi-ukwu-ato. You will feel the reality of the name, as a stimulant.  You will also understand the reason behind the name. You will identify with the concern and worry of those that call us the name. You can read the great expectations from them, whenever the name is called.

If you are a well tutored student of the concept “Nwanneukwu” and you also truly understand the idea behind “ISI-UKWU-ATO”, you will appreciate the dynamics adopted in relating the message (see first paragraph), to you: the Nwanneukwus. You will equally understand why you should not be annoyed with anybody, but yourself, whenever they address our community as “ISI-UKWU-ATO”.

By now you are not only feeling the full import of the name, “ISI-UKWU-ATO” but the power and moving effect of it. You are already remembering the effect of the name, which you witnessed in the past, when it was called, but suppressed because of the anger, that ignorance of who you are and the expectations of others from you, produced.
Dear Nwanneukwus, whenever “ISI-UKWU-ATO” is called, please understand that the people are saying ABIA state, is presently the way it is, because ISU-IKWU-ATO has closed its eyes for long. That Nigeria is lying prostrate and groping in the dark simply because, Abia, God’s own state is not on the thrown.
Do I still need to explain why the name is a wakeup call? Your guess is as good as mine.

Ndewonuwoooooo, Umunnem, Ndi Nwanneukwu!
