ANAN PLATEAU STATE BRANCH HOSTS 2017 MCPD, APRIL SESSION

By Nnabugwu Chizoba

Plateau state branch of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), led by Mr. Ibrahim Makut, FCNA, as the Chairman, is agog, with preparations for the hosting of the biggest events in ANAN. According to reports, the Branch and her entire membership, known for outstanding performance in all matters of the Association, be it local or national programmes, is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the standard of performance, set by the Branch over the years, as the leading branch in all ANAN activities remains unequalled, unrivaled and unbeaten.

A high powered delegation meeting called by the branch to review activities aimed at hosting the event, was a total confirmation that the branch is truly on a mission, such that anything short of delighting the participants will not be considered good enough.

The coming event is the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD), Programme of ANAN, slated to hold in April, 2017, in Jos. The programme review meeting had in attendance, everybody that matter, in the Plateau state Branch of ANAN, in addition to some representatives of institutions whose duties are considered essential in assignments of this nature and magnitude. The enthusiasm, optimism and patriotic zeal of the members of the Plateau state branch of the ANAN was completely on display. From the early turnout of members to the meeting, to the immediate attention and quick response of those delegated by their institutions, following the invitation extended to them by the branch to participate in the review meeting, a fall out of the importance the branch attaches to the job of such institutions, in relation to the overall success of the coming event, it is obvious that the Plateau state branch of ANAN is ardent in her belief that genius begins a great work, but labour indeed finishes it. This much is revealed by the Plateau state ANAN branch Chairman, Mr. Markut, when interviewed by our reporter immediately after the review meeting, has this to say:

“I wish to among other things, call on all members of ANAN, desirous of being part of the Jos, April 2017 MCPD programme, to cancel their plan of coming to Jos alone, and instead make arrangement to appear in Jos with their partners and family members, I can assure, none of you will regret the decision.

“The Jos MCPD will be a reunion of sort, an opportunity for the branch to ones again give the ANAN family a treat, as it provides a unique platform to show case the beauty, hospitality and rich cultural heritage of the good people of Plateau state.

“We use this medium to appeal to all those participating in the programme to make their payment in good time, as this will assist both ANAN Headquarter and the Plateau state branch to provide adequate logistics necessary to make the forthcoming MCPD holding in Jos, the Plateau state capital, in April 2017 a success”. Mr. Patrick Dariem, also present at the meeting appeals.

According to Mr. Gbokson Peter:

“The elaborate plan you are referring to is a reflection of the fact that every other member of the ANAN family can be said to have started their journey of Professionalism in Accountancy, right here in Jos. The branch is always reminding itself and members of this fact, and as a result considers it a rare privilege and a mark of honour anytime the branch is interfacing with the members. As you can see the participants are more or less coming back to their home. It is natural in Africa, that when people who have been away from home for quite something are coming back, we make elaborate plans to receive them. This is exactly what the branch is doing”.

Marveled by the depth of commitment and ethical conduct exhibited by the participants of the meeting, our reporter decided to ask Mr. Linus Igboyi, what the motivation was, considering, especially the manner the various committees handled their assignment, this is the answer she got:

“Since it is a standard practice at the branch that all assigned duties to members is handled with precision and diligence, so it is not surprising that all committees and their members earlier mandated to come for the meeting and to also submit their reports before the meeting starts, complied without exception”.

The question of what next, was put to Mrs. Yise Katmwa, her response is:

“Having reviewed all activities put forward by the various committees, as well as receive fresh ideas into the plan, the branch is now set to commence the implementation of her planned programmes. In this regard, and in particular, to eliminate or rather reduce, considerably the identified issues of concern, expressed when other branches hosted the same event in the past, the Plateau state branch of ANAN, has resolved to make this event hosting, not just a successful and memorable one, but also a tourist delight”.

Mrs. Izang Grace capped it up with this response:

“From the look of things; from all indication, as you can see by yourself, the branch through this meeting, has put to a stop anything short of giving the participants of the MCPD programme, in April, joy, happiness and comfort. We have done it before, we will do again”.
