By Nnabugwu Chizoba

Chief Anthony Archibong, the “Chidumije 1” of Isiala Oparanadim, in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area, of Imo State, an Engineer by Profession, has called on the youths of his community, other youths, and indeed Nigerians, not to despair, in the wake of current challenges brought about by the economic recession facing the nation. To him, a new set of approaches is necessary, as he also attributed the challenges faced by citizens as the effect of the global economic crisis”.

Chief Anthony Archibong, the “Chidumije 1” of Isiala Oparanadim, made this call during a chart with our correspondent, saying: “In the aftermath of the current global economic crisis, a new set of approaches is needed to replace despair with hope, austerity with prosperity”.
Rather than bemoan the situation, Chief, Archibong, maintained that the present situation in the country is only but a catalyst to transform and renew our collective resolve to create a greater country.
According to him “The present climate of darkness can be the catalyst to transform and renew our collective resolve to create a greater country than we had earlier planned. Continuing, he said “Adversity can be a currency for prosperity if we take decisive measures to turn our lemons into lemonades”.
As a demonstration of his confidence for the great endowment of the Nigerian youths, Chief Anthony said “Our youths are adequately endowed with the potentials to create a better society and a prosperous nation. They have proven this point in the excellent performances in sports, Technology and entertainment. They have ruled the world in various areas of human endeavours”.
In a reaction to a question posed to him by our correspondent, who demanded to know from him what needs to be done to change the tide of economic woes in the Country, Chief Anthony Archibong, remarked: “The solution to the present quagmire lie more on our ability to understand the big picture and restrategise our action plan to equip youths with the necessary skills, knowledge and empowerment. This blue print will activate and nourish their entrepreneurial capacity to become creators of employment rather than job seekers”.
According to him “Inexhaustible opportunities for a higher level of services and early self-definition are available in agricultural activities, building construction, fishery and entertainment”. However, we must change our perceptions, views and philosophy of the day. The get rich quick and easy syndrome is anti-youth progress and dangerous.
You have to get it right that nothing good can happen in this sphere without a quality input by people. It's proper to catch a vision, weigh it thoroughly and give it the best in terms of commitment. He admonishes.
Though, he spoke confidently and glowingly about the abundant opportunities in the country, Chief Archibong did not hide the fact that some actions are necessary before the nation can maximize the opportunities in the land. In view of this Chief Archibong was emphatic and forceful in his admonition, saying “Therefore, shun all manners of evil and embrace the noble and tested parts of honour, intergrity and hard work.

The Chief, during the conversation with our correspondent, also advised, especially the youths in an unequivocal but engaging manner, saying “Don't wait for the dead man's shoe or stand in wait for the ship that never bait. In what looks like a command and equally befitting of his status, the “Chidumije 1” of Isiala Oparanadim, Chief Anthony Archibong, said emphatically “Stand up right now and change that look of yours for the better. Dangote, Abiola, Adenuga, Uba had our poor background but they changed theirs for the better”.
Not yet done with his advice Chief Anthony Archibong, said “In this era of recession, think what you can do best to meet the need of the society. Create quality ideas, add value to the ideas and get started anyway. No matter how small, business does not require huge sums of money to start as many failed people had thought”.
Speaking in the same vein he said “My friends such as Abu Tijani, Mike Oji, Sam Obiagwu and Chief Joe Atakulu started their businesses without the huge injection of funds but their empires and businesses are far beyond what the Federal Government can operate”.
It's just a matter of commitment, hardwork, discipline and the fear of God. He reiterated.
When asked to make a promise to his people, especially, the youths, “Chidumije 1” of Isiala Oparanadim, Chief Anthony Archibong, said “As the majority of youths accepted and promoted my coronation by the first class ruling Monarch, HRH EZE Isidore A.I. Atughara, Dim of Azu/Isidim 1 of Isiala Oparanadim, I promise to use the privilege to uphold justice, equity, peaceful co-existence and fair play”. “I will do my uttermost best to defend the rights of people everywhere. He concluded”.
