The Association of National
Accountants of Nigeria, Plateau State Branch, has demonstrated her love and
solidarity to one of her Members and Professional colleague, Mr. Patrick
Dariem, FCNA, on his swearing-in as a Special Adviser to the Governor of
Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong.
Mr. Dariem surounded by some ANAN members |
Suffice to say that the swearing-in
of Mr. Patrick Dariem, with the presence of distinguished members of the
public, among them opinion molders and leaders of thought, including youths and
women provided a veritable platform, to galvanize the confidence of ANAN
members at the event, and in so doing became the tonic that the Plateau State
Branch of ANAN, led by her Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Markut needed to stimulate the
interest and support of the members of the noble Profession, and the public towards
joining forces with government in the fight against corruption and
maladministration in all ramifications. It is on the strength of this, that the
Association advised, that people should direct all their efforts towards the
pursuit of noble objectives and the attainment of worthwhile goals.
According to ANAN members at the
swearing-in ceremony, occasions of this nature provides opportunity for ANAN Branches,
in this case Plateau State Branch, to deliver the message of the
President/Chairman of Council, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria,
Chief Chukwuemeka Anthony Nzom, to any member, appointed into public office.
With regard to the above, ANAN
Plateau state Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Markut presented the message of ANAN
President to Mr. Patrick Dariem, when he said:
“However, I must note that our
President/Chairman of Council, ANAN, Chief Anthony Chukwuemeka Nzom, has given me
a message which he said I must deliver to you”.
The message according to Mr. Markut,
reads:
“I congratulate you on your
recent appointment by the governor of Plateau state. It is a thing of joy and a
call to duty. It is especially gratifying to note that the appointment is an
opportunity granted you from among many who are equally qualified, to serve Plateau
state in the capacity you are called to serve. It is worthy to note also that by
your orientation and training as a member of ANAN, and the Accounting
Profession, the expectation of the public on you is much and you cannot afford
to fail the citizens of Plateau state, whom you have been invited to serve. I
hope that your pledge of Accountability, honesty, integrity and due diligence, which
you swore to, on Oath, at your admission into ANAN, will be reflected in all your
transactions and dealings while in office, as the Special Adviser to your governor
on Finance and Investment. I charge you to give your best and nothing short of
that. Once again congratulation”.
Delivering his own address the
Chairman, Plateau State Branch of ANAN, Mr. Ibrahim Markut said:
“I must commend your commitment
and immense contributions to our Association, ANAN, at the Branch where you
have served as Branch Chairman and at the National level, where you have served;
and is still serving as Council Committee member. It is my pleasure and that of
the Branch and the Association as a whole, seeing you sworn-in today, as the
Special Adviser to the Governor of Plateau State, on Finance and Investment”.
“It is a thing of joy to discover
that your swearing-in today, attracted huge attention from the public, and also
our Professional colleagues and members, whom are Fellows of ANAN”. Mr. Markut,
emphasized:
In a related development, a
member and Fellow of ANAN, Mr. Theophilus Olalude, while responding to a
question by our reporter in an interview, during a refreshment party organized
to commemorate the event, said:
“I think it is a great privilege
to be here; to rejoice with one of us. And to rejoice with Plateau state, in
particular. This is because I belief the choice of a fellow collogue Mr.
Patrick Dariem as the special Adviser to the Governor on Finance and
Investment, is a right choice. It is really what is usually referred to, as a
round peg in a round whole”.
“Continuing in his response to
questions posed to him during the interview, Mr. Olalude intoned:
“Mr. Dariem has been a seasoned Accountant.
He has also functioned as the Chairman of the Plateau state Branch of ANAN. During
his tenure as Branch Chairman, we witnessed tremendous changes and improvements.
I belief he will take the wealth of experience which he has gathered as a
result of his interactions with other formidable accountants in the course of performing
his duties, as an Accountant. My prayer is that the government will listen to
his pieces of advice from time to time. If this is done, his efforts, will
impact the state meaningfully, especially in this time of lean resources”. He
concluded.
The atmosphere at both the swearing-in
ceremony and the refreshment party where pervaded by joy, friendliness, special
thanks to the Almighty, prayers for good health, God’s protection and favour.
