Two indigenous
Advocacy Groups, operating in Plateau State, in the area of Business Enabling
Environment, has merged, for more impact and visibility.
The two
groups, were the Business Enabling Environment Committee (BEEC), and Doing
Business Action Team (DBAT).
The
merger took place after an emergency meeting convened for the purpose, on the 8th
of January, 2016, in Rayfield, Jos. Present at the meeting were the executive
and members of both groups.
In their
separate contributions during the meeting, it was observed that the two groups
had earlier before today’s meeting discussed independently in their meetings about
the merger. According to them, the reasons for the merger had already been
adduced at those meetings and agreement reached, to the effect that the merger
has become very necessary, in order to create more desirable impact, since from
every indication, the two groups were virtually doing the same thing. It was
noted that all the meetings, that gave rise to the merger, took place in the
year 2015.
Reactions
to the merger by the membership of both groups after the meeting, showed that
they were very happy with the development. They declared their total support to
the new group, saying they will work hard to ensure that they surpass the
record of the different groups, when they worked independent of each other.
The crew
of that covered the event, said from the brief
action plan that they saw, but which the group said they will make public in
due course, it was very obvious that the new group is really positioning to ensure that the essence
of the merger is achieved.
More
on this will be reported in due course. We also promise to update you with the information
relating to the activities of each of the groups before they came together.
