BELFORD, PARTNERS El-SPICE MEDIA AND NATIONAL ORIENTATION AGENCY FOR THE UNVEILING OF A NEW NIGERIA “an Inter-college Kommon sense competition”

Reported By Nnabugwu Chizoba

The importance of education in the overall process of shaping or reshaping, formation or reformation; or the upgrading of capacity of both the individual and the society can never be over emphasized. For these reasons, education has since been considered a fundamental factor in all developmental efforts of any society. No nation, state or community has achieved any meaningful development, how much more attain sustainability status without substantial investment in human capital.
In one hand education has been identified as a tool for enhancing peoples’ understanding of themselves and their environment and on the other, it has been associated with the improvement in the quality of life of a people and has also led in some instances to broad social benefits.
Education has been linked to raising peoples’ productivity, creativity, promoting entrepreneurship skills and technological advancements.
The argument in some quarters that education means different things to different people has not reduced the value or undermined its role, in the efforts by man to develop self and the environment.
This conclusion has always reinforced the belief of individuals and organizations who have from time to time played one role or the other towards strengthening educational system. The insistence by individuals and organisations, to continuously invest in education may be translated into one thing, which is that the right education will eliminate some of the identified flaws in the society, if not in the immediate; but at least in the future.
It is on the strength of the above, that November 5, 2015 witnessed the Grand Finale of the first ever “Kommon sense Inter-college Competition”. The “Kommon sense card” is invented by a young Nigerian, Prince Victor Dickson, a graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Jos. He hails from Akwa Ibom State but, resident in Jos. The graphics design of the card was done by another Nigerian, Oge Anyaji, a female from Enugu state and also a resident of Jos.

The card inventor, Prince Victor Dickson and Oge Anyaji, the graphics designer

Prince Victor Dickson is an embodiment of talent, a rallying point for the youths, a mind builder and a creative thinker. He is among the numerous Youths in Plateau state that benefited from the European Union (EU) sponsored entrepreneurship skills enhancement training under the Project “Economic Development for Peace and Stability in Plateau state, Nigeria”.

                          (at the EU entrepreneurship Training),
The President of Belford Business School, Jos, Nnabugwu Chizoba facilitated some of the EU sponsored training, including the one Prince Victor Dickson participated in. Victor’s active participation and commitment in the training singled him out and attracted the attention of the Belford’s President, known in Plateau state for his avowed commitment for the development of entrepreneurship, youths, women and vulnerable persons. The graphics designer of the "Kommon sense card" Oge Anyaji. She is also a beneficiary of the EU training. She like Prince Dickson was trained by Nnabugwu Chizoba, in a different stream.
When the European Union entrepreneurship skills enhancement training ended, the process of fine tuning and refinement, to give the identified abilities of Prince Victor Dickson a focus and a clear direction, commenced almost immediately. Series of contacts and discussion sessions were held at Belford Business School with the President of Belford. The meetings had only one goal ...  release Victor to the world.
The “Kommon sense Inter-college competition” was put together by El-spice Media, National Orientation Agency and Belford. It is one platform among many that have been outlined to show-case Victor’s invention. It is initiated as a formal process of introducing the “Kommon sense card” into the world and positioning it as a catalytic tool essential for value reorientation, self-development, bonding, education and relationships building, and as a matter of fact a strategic communication awareness kit.

The invention and subsequent introduction of “Kommon sense Card” through inter-college competition is not only legendary but revolutionary too. This assertion by all intent and purpose is a true reflection of the idea behind the invention of the card. This much is revealed when one considers that the first and only human software is known as “common sense”.  This software according to Prince Victor, permitted man to become aware of his environment and became the accepted measure for value. In fact, common sense is synonymous with morality. Towards the rebirth of common sense which man loss in a bid to modernize and in the process demoralized education, Prince Victor through the El-spice media created the “Kommon sense card” to refresh man’s sense of values, to prick man’s conscience and to restore morality; and in this sense moralize education for the needful purpose of peace, love, friendship and truth, as against chaos, pain, betrayal, hatred and immorality that a demoralized education has brought to the world.

The display of packs of “Kommon sense card”

"Kommon sense card” is a constant reminder, to all, either as a player, an observer, or an admirer of the card that everything and everybody are related in one way or the other.

“Kommon sense card” is an illuminater to the mind. It  teaches that every action and reaction are woven into a complex whole. A condition that invokes deep sense of reflection and thought provoking attitudes, a sense of commitment to discover and fill the gap that MAN has created in the pursuit of life.

“Kommon sense card” provides a perfect blend to address the quest for living and survival by MAN in this earthly journey.

Every moment, time and efforts devoted at playing “kommon sense card” is a journey into Life, a call for self-assessment, and a charge to seek positive responses. it is indeed, a challenge to embrace ethical values, high moral standards and pursuit of competence and functional knowledge.
A pack of “Kommon sense masters card” is made up of 72 cards, with familiar words and appealing images. The cards are inter-related. All a player needs is to interpret the connections; a task that demands the application of “Kommon sense”.
The brief introduction of the “Kommon sense card” as expressed above is necessary to underscore the important role of the society towards circulating “Kommon sense Masters card". There is no doubt that “Kommon sense cards" will impact the world positively. This conclusion has underscored the reason  a new Nigeria was unveiled through the competition. The mantra in the country presently is “Change”.
There is no denying the fact that most efforts of the federal government of Nigeria is centered on fighting and eliminating corruption. With the unveiling of a new Nigeria through the Inter-college competition, the floodgate for a new Africa has opened. All hands must be on deck. This will include various forms of supports and collaborations that will ensure success of this venture. This is a clarion call, for Nigeria, Africa and the world at large. Prince Victor Dickson needs assistance and goodwill of all well-meaning individuals, corporate organisations and government Ministries, Departments and Agencies world over.
Prince Victor Dickson and his invention should be of interest to the European Union. The objectives of the EU training in Plateau state is being realized through Victor. A little more push will result in job creation and wealth generation activities. The multiplier effect is huge.
Colossal amounts of money have severally gone into sponsorship of all manners of ideas. All forms of criticisms condemning the youths have trailed media houses and street corners in the past. The way this present invention is treated will go a long way to prove the sincerity or otherwise of those criticisms and condemnations. The long awaited time is now…
